History

26 Toques Place was built circa 1888, with an addition on the left side added at a later date. A villa on this property was once home to Cigar Magnate, George Lorillard, and then became the Cozy Inn, a popular establishment operated from 1910 to 1930.

The property, then owned by Mr. And Mrs. Feiden also hosted the Atlantique Press operated by Henry Hird III. The original building was demolished in 1950, and in its place, a former carriage house was relocated to the site.

In March 2022, the Toques Place Land Trust acquired the property with the goal of restoring and preserving this historic site. The house was raised 4 feet to protect it from future flooding, and the porch was carefully restored to its original dimensions.
