History
26 Toques Place
was the location of a large villa which was once home to Cigar Magnate, George Lorillardbuilt.
In about 1890, a Carriage House was built nearby the villa to house the carriage drivers, the carriages and horses. In about 1915, the right side of the structure was added.
The villa eventually was torn down and the Carriage House was relocated to its current location and became the “Cozy Inn,” a popular establishment operated from 1910 to 1930.
Mr. & Mrs. Feiden
purchased the property when the “Cozy Inn” closed in 1930 and it became their personal residence for many years.
When they passed on, the building was sold to the “Atlantique Press” — printing company operated by Henry Hird III.
